Start with the packaging cause

DIM exposure is usually a volume problem. Record product size, required protection, quantity, and current box size before comparing alternatives.

Optimize in a safe order

Test rotation and a smaller verified box before reducing protective padding. Compare void percentage, DIM weight, and billable weight for every candidate.

  1. 1Measure the product bounding box
  2. 2Set minimum padding per face
  3. 3Allow safe axis-aligned rotation
  4. 4Select the lowest-void box that fits
  5. 5Recalculate billable weight under the same verified rule

Claim only what the data supports

Without a live rate API and applicable account terms, report a billable-weight reduction—such as 12 lb to 9 lb, or 25%—not a fabricated dollar saving.
